AI & data / LAYERATEK EXPLAINER

AI is a powerful assistant. Judgment is still your skill.

A practical way to turn an impressive answer into something you can actually trust.

The signal

NIST’s voluntary AI Risk Management Framework gives organisations a structure for identifying and managing AI risks. Its generative AI profile addresses risks associated with generative systems. These are background resources for understanding AI responsibly, not a breaking-news announcement.

Our take: separate confidence from evidence

Suppose an assistant gives you a command to fix a computer. Before running it, identify what it changes, what privileges it needs and how you would reverse it. Compare its explanation with official documentation. Fluent wording is not a test result.

Try this in five minutes

Ask an assistant to explain a concept you already know. Mark each factual claim. Verify two of them against a primary source and write one question the answer left unresolved. Use fictional data; keep passwords and private customer information out of the exercise.

MAKE THE IDEA YOURS

An AI assistant suggests a command you do not understand. What comes first?
